In light of the appeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” we launched a national broadcast message welcoming in-the-closet service members to Grindr with a link to the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network’s contribution page. We used geo-targeted messaging to keep our users aware and active around the overturning of Proposition 8 in California and the passage of marriage equality in New York. In one of our largest victories, a petition denouncing St. Petersburg, Russia’s ban on ‘gay propaganda’ was circulated through a broadcast message that resulted in more than 57,000 clicks!
Grindr for Equality invites all of you to become on-the-ground activists for your own local GLBT communities by driving awareness and activity around the issues that matter to you! Submit tips, news and issues pertaining your community – local and beyond – and utilize the strength of the larger Grindr community help you in your fights. Submissions can be sent via email to equality@grindr.com or visit www.grindr4equality.com for additional information.
