It was three years ago that we first launched Grindr, and I would never have imagined that when we started up this little company in my living room, we’d be where we are today. It’s an amazing feeling to travel the world and see people using Grindr in places all over the globe.
We’ve been going strong since March 25, 2009, when we first unleashed Grindr to the world. After one month, we had 10,000 Grindr users. These days, we get nearly 10,000 new Grindr users every day. The rough total tally is now 3.5 million Grindr users in 192 countries internationally (except for the island nations of Nauru and Tuvalu). That’s a whole lot of Grindr guys in a really short amount of time!
Now we’ve got an office full of awesome people who have all been working hard every day to make Grindr the best app around, to innovate and solve issues. We’ve been working together behind the scenes to bring a better Grindr experience to all of our users, regardless of the platform. And as the year progresses, we plan to take some big steps forward in our mission to help gay men around the world connect with those around them.
For now, we just relaunched Grindr.com, so be sure to check that out. Here at Grindr HQ, we spent the past six months adding about 30 new people to our Hollywood-based office. And we still have some open positions.
To wrap it all up, I just want to say that the only reason we’re still here is because of all of you — our users. We’re thrilled that you’re all such passionate and devoted Grindr guys.
So to those of you who have been with us from the start, those of you who just downloaded the app yesterday, and everyone else in between: Thank you all for trying us out, sticking with us, and making this the best and largest gay social app out there.
